About the Event

The Queensboro Bridge Marathon is an unofficial, marathon organized by some runners local to Long Island City. The course consists of 10 full laps of the Queensboro Bridge (pedestrian path) starting from the Queens side, plus a small additional amount I trust individuals to be able to figure out to reach the full marathon distance of 26.2 miles.

Update as of Jan 29:

We are on for tomorrow as expected even in the cold. Given the temperatures though I will be recommending individuals run as a relay and even accept multiple activities combined as a relay submission.

After the racing we will be migrating to a local bar for some warmth, burgers, and brews so if you want to hang out grab one of us setup at the table for information.

I will have a table setup that you can leave bags if you so wish, although I think I'm alright we cannot guarantee total safety and security of your items.

I am also going to be collecting donations for the local Hunters Point Parks Conservancy since they are our local greenspace that many local LIC Runners use regularly. Stop by the table at the base of the bridge for info.

Race Details

We will meet on the entrance to the Queensboro Bridge Pedestrian Path on the Queens Side, where Crescent Street meets with Queens Plaza South at 6:15pm.

There is no registration fee, or official registration for that matter.

Disclaimer

This is an unofficial event organized for fun and personal challenge. Participants are responsible for their own safety and must obey all traffic laws and posted rules. Anyone may participate as an individual or as part of a relay team.

There will be NO BATHROOMS & LIMITED AID STATIONS If you need to use a bathroom try checking out one of the local restaurants or get some water at one of the bodegas nearby. The pedestrian path is not closed for this event, please make way for pedestrians and cede right of way to the poor souls who decide to walk the bridge on a night in January.

Temperatures will be LOW and the conditions on the bridge after the storm last weekend cannot be promised to be great. Race at your own risk as we are not an official race so come prepared for the weather as there is no one responsbile for conditions but yourself.
